Oh Me, Oh My it’s Fall!
Fall is my favorite season! I love the coolness in the air and the crisp mornings. I love the way the leaves start to change colors, reminding me that we are always changing and evolving. I love all the gentle nudges the season brings. Fall reminds me that it’s time to celebrate! Spring and Summer are all about planning and executing those plans, Fall is when we get to celebrate the harvest! We are still working to reap all of our hard work and get ready to hunker down for Winter, where we will dream new ideas.
This Fall I am celebrating officially launching two businesses, one has been a slow birth while the other came in like wildfire. Blending all things together that I love → ‘Intuitive Cuisine’. Food, herbalism, sustainability, highlighting the seasons, reiki, intention, nourishing others, and community. As we enter Fall I wanted to share about some of my favorite fall herbs.
Elderberries, rosehips, cinnamon, reishi and ginger!
Elderberries are jam packed berries with antioxidants and vitamins that help boost our immune systems! They can help support our systems to avoid colds when taken daily or ease the symptoms of a cold if used once we start feeling crummy.
Rosehips! I love rose and all the beautiful medicine she brings to the table! Rosehips are what we get after the rose goes to seed! These seeds are full of antioxidants, and vitamin C! They are best to harvest after the first frost. If you are wildcrafting these please be mindful of how much you harvest and that the plant is healthy before harvesting. Making sure that we are showing reciprocity with the plants we are harvesting from. Ways I have shown my gratitude for the plants: asking permission to harvest, saying thank you, singing them a song, offering the plant tobacco, giving the plant water, a strand of hair, and/or reiki. As you build relationships with the plants let your intuition guide you.
Cinnamon and ginger are both brimming with antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties! Not to mention that they help warm the body and reduce inflammation and stress! Reishi is a mushroom that also helps boost the immune system, full of antioxidants and can help with fatigue and heart health!
One of my favorite ways to incorporate all these fantastic herbs is in a cup of hot apple cider! I add the apple cider to a pot then put in the reishi, cinamon, ginger, rosehips, rose, elderberry and some lemon slices. I also add a splash of apple cider vinegar to help with gut health! Allow this to steep on low for 20 minutes, strain and enjoy!
